Sacré Bobby ! La vidéo est vraiment tordante, en effet. Je me souviens pas de grand chose au sujet des pentatoniques, alors ce sera court. Déjà des pentatoniques, y'en a des tonnes : C^11_4 soit autant de façon qu'il y a de choisir 4 notes parmi onze (la première étant fixée, puisqu'il faut bien choisir une hauteur pour commencer (l'oreille du péquin moyen ne perçoit précisément que les différences de hauteur, contrairement aux gens qui ont l'oreille absolue), c'est d'ailleurs ce qu'on appelle la fondamentale). La gamme utilisée dans le show est la pentatonique majeure, soit do ré mi sol la, si la fondamentale est do. Les commentaires donnent une excellente explication de pourquoi les gens la captent "naturellement" : elle est constituée des notes se suivant sur le "cercle des quintes". L'oreille perçoit comme d'autant plus agréable la superposition de sons que leurs fréquences ont un rapport (au sens division) simple. L'octave (do -> do immédiatement plus aigu) est quasiment neutre (doublement de fréquence). La quinte correspond à un écart 1.5 (en fait, triplement de fréquence, et division par deux pour "rapprocher" la note de la fondamentale. La quinte de do est sol, celle de sol est ré, celle de ré la, celle de la mi, et ainsi de suite. En continuant on finit (en simplifiant un peu/beaucoup selon le degré de pédanterie de votre interlocuteur) par retomber sur do, décrivant ainsi le cycle des quintes. Les premiers pas sur le cycle ajoutent des notes qui ont un rapport "simple" avec la fondamentale (et entre elles, en plus) et se marient donc bien ensemble. Elles semblent naturelles probablement parce que ce sont les plus simples à construire à partir d'une fondamentale. Les notes construites après sont plus difficiles à utiliser : certaines combinaisons sont dissonantes et donc à utiliser avec une bonne idée en tête. La plupart des musiques utilisent les gammes pentatoniques, notamment les musiques du sud-est asiatique, le blues ou le jazz ; on savait les construire déjà au temps de Pythagore. Voilà, pour finir un TP pour se convaincre que ça marche vraiment (et qui permet de se la péter un peu) : les touches noires du piano forment une gamme pentatonique. Essayez donc de vous asseoir à un clavier et de jouer ce que vous voulez (avec des accords et les deux mains ensemble) en utilisant que des touches noires. Et bien vous verrez que quoique vous jouiez, le résultat "sonnera" (essayez tout de même d'espacer les notes à la main gauche, genre à la quinte/quarte). En plus ça donne un air un peu planant, et ça peut faire illusion un moment.

Par contre, je suis déçu : pas une seule mention du nombre d'or dans toute cette explication ? N'est-il pas la base de l'harmonieux en toute chose ? Ce n'est pas possible, tu as du faire erreur. Quand tu dis 1.5, je ne peux que croire qu'il s'agit en fait de (1+sqrt(5))/2...

As-tu une idée de ce qu'il en est de l'harmonie et des fréquences des ondes lumineuses ? 2 couleurs vont-elles bien ensemble parce que le rapport de leurs fréquences est simple ? Tu n'es pas obligé de te plier en 4 pour trouver la réponse à cette question, cette fois je pourrai chercher par moi-même, je pense.
Là les choses ont l'air au moins un peu différentes : deux couleurs très proches vont généralement bien ensemble ; deux sons très proches font mal aux oreilles (cf quand des musiciens accordent leur guitare/violon etc ...). Mais il a peut-être des règles du même genre. Tiens-nous au courant !
